REAEARCH SEMINAR FOR RMU TEACHING STAFF

The Regional Maritime University (RMU) organized a one-day Seminar for teaching staff on the Theme “Publish or Perish.”  The event took place on Wednesday, 25th May, 2022 at the RMU African Unity Auditorium. The aim of the Seminar was toward improving the research publication and grant proposal abilities  of lecturers by exposing them to effective strategies.

Speaking at the gathering, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Jethro Brooks Jnr. encouraged the Academic Staff to continue to research and publish to help change the life of their students and society at large. He, thus, urged them to focus more on research publications.  He further encouraged them to aspire to higher educational ranks.

The seminar was in two sessions, the first session covered “Building Self Esteem in Academia” and the second was on “Building Local and International Image”.

The Resource person, Prof. A. A. Alemna in delivering on the Theme of the Seminar, covered techniques of how teaching staff could publish to build their self-esteem in academia.  He also elaborately enlightened participants on the rudiments of research grant proposals and how to write effective proposals to win grants of donors.  

The seminar was well attended and interactive, with participants posing questions and making contributions on the key areas covered by the Resource Person.
