ADMISSION TO POST-GRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR 2024/2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies, RMU, is offering the under-listed programmes for the 2024/2025 Academic Year commencing in August 2024, leading to the award of Master’s Degrees.

MARITIME STUDIES PROGRAMMES

  1. Master Of Arts (M.A) Ports & Shipping Administration [Regular And Weekend Option]
  2. Master Of Science (M.Sc.) International Shipping And Logistics [Weekend Option]
  3. MSc Coastal Environment Management [Weekend option]

ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES

  1. Master Of Science (M.Sc.) Renewable Energy Engineering [Weekend Option]
  2. Master Of Science (M.Sc.) Environmental Engineering [Weekend Option]
  3. Master Of Science (M.Sc.) Bioprocess Engineering [Weekend Option]

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MARITIME STUDIES PROGRAMMES

  • A good First Degree with at least a Minimum of 2nd Class Lower Division in any Social Science, Business Administration, Maritime Discipline or related disciplines from a recognized university.

or

  • The highest-grade Certificate of Competency for unrestricted service as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy.3

or

  • The University may consider applicants who possess a 3rd Class but with, at least, 2 years’ industry experience. Such applicants shall be considered subject to passing an entrance examination and interview.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES

The eligibility criteria for the M.Sc. Engineering programmes are as follows:

  • A good first degree/equivalent in Marine/Mechanical /Civil /Naval /Offshore/ Electrical/ Electronics/ Petroleum/ Petrochemical/Chemical Engineering/ Engineering Based programmes with at least a 2nd Class Lower Division from a recognized University.

or

  • Applicants with B.Sc. in Physical Sciences will be considered if they have, at least, one (1) year relevant industry experience.

or

  • Applicants with bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) of related fields with relevant offshore oil and gas experiences will also be considered on case-by-case basis. Applicants with slightly Lower qualifications may be considered if they can demonstrate they have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

or

  • The University may consider applicants who possess a 3rd Class but with, at least, 2 years’ industry experience Such applicants shall be considered subject to passing an entrance examination and interview.

International applicants are also required to provide proof of proficiency in English.
