On Saturday 12th March, 2022, there was a successful graduation of 20 young ladies jointly sponsored by the Naa-Dede Foundation (NDB), Regional Maritime University (RMU), the Ga Mantse Outfit and other benevolent organizations.
The girls undertook an intensive training programme in Marine Engine Mechanic at RMU from June to September, 2021.
In her address the 2020 Ghana Most Beautiful Queen, Naa Dede Botchwey, expressed thanks and appreciation to RMU for hosting the ladies in the University’s students’ hostel. She was particularly grateful to the Management of the University for their partnership in achieving the educational project objective of NDB by giving the girls the needed training that has equipped them for life. She presented a Citation to RMU as a demonstration of her appreciation.
She advised the girls not to relent in the face of any challenges as they put into practice all they have learnt from their training, but to forge ahead and add to the solid educational foundation given them by RMU. The Beauty Queen also thanked the Office of the Ga Mantse and other benevolent organizations for believing in her dream and supporting her to achieve same.
On his part, the Ag. Vice Chancellor, RMU, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks Jr., who was represented by the Head of Research and Consultancy, Dr. Robert Nyemah, encouraged the graduands to make good use of the skills acquired and be worthy ambassadors of RMU in their careers, exhibiting the competencies, skills and abilities inculcated in them. He also lauded Naa Dede Botchwey for her commitment and dedication to the worthy cause of providing education for needy but brilliant young ladies and wished her success in her future endeavours.
A representative of the graduands, Ms. Unicrystal Quaye, on behalf of the ladies, extended heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the various organizations who enabled the realization of their educational objectives.
She echoed the graduands promise to live up to expectation as competent marine engineer mechanics to justify the support given them.
The graduands were called out individually and given their certificates, having fulfilled all requirements for the Marine Engine Mechanic Programme.
Present at the graduation were the graduands, their family and friends, as well as some dignitaries from sponsoring organizations. These included Naa Dede Botchwey, 2020 Ghana Most Beautiful, and C.E.O., of the Naa Dede Botchwey Foundation, Dr. Robert Nyemah, Head of Research and Consultancy, RMU, representing the Ag. Vice Chancellor and Justice Sarkodie Mensah (Rtd), Chief of Staff, on behalf of Ga Manste Outfit.
