The REGIONAL MARITIME UNIVERSITY Participates in the 2023 advanced training program for GHG reduction from ships in CHINA

The 2023 Advanced Training Program for Green House Gas (GHG) Reduction from Ships from the 9th to 13th July, 2023 is currently ongoing at the Shanghai Maritime University (SMU). The program received sponsorship from the Shanghai Municipal Government, China and support from the Maritime Technology Cooperation Center (MTCC-Asia). The program is being organized to address some measures for the implementation of the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) GHG Conventions and Regulations to align well with the objectives of the IMO which is reducing carbon intensity of international shipping by at least 40 percent by 2030.

Building on existing relationship the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Regional Maritime University (RMU) Dr. Jethro Brooks Jnr., is in attendance to the invitation from SMU.  Both RMU and SMU are jointly running an undergraduate programme i.e.  B.Sc. Logistics Management at the RMU. The levels 100, 200 and 400 are held at RMU while the level 300 is held in the SMU. Students who may not be able to fund their travelling expenses have the option to have the entire programme at RMU. 

The 2023 advanced training for greenhouse gas reduction at the SMU brought together heads of international organizations, port authorities, executives from leading maritime institutions and shipping companies to share their views and discuss measures for GHG reduction in their respective countries.
