On January the 24th 2024, the European Maritime Safety Agency commenced an Internal Quality Audit exercise of the RMU. Prior to the commencement of the exercise, an entry meeting was held at the Vice Chancellor’s Lounge for briefing on the agency’s mission. The Ag V.C. Dr Jethro Brooks chaired the meeting and warmly welcomed the delegates comprising of personnel of the agency and senior officials of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA).
The Ag V.C. thanked the agency for the advance notice given before their visit and informed the delegates that the institution is working closely with GMA and has done what it is supposed to do but quick to add that nobody is perfect. He also briefed the delegates about some challenges emanating from inadequacies in student accommodation and classrooms and highlighted the urgent need for their expansion. On the issue of student enrolment, the Ag V.C. noted that the number admitted in the first semester of this academic year is greater than those of the previous years.
