Maiden graduation ceremony for close protection training held at RMU

The Regional Maritime University (RMU), in collaboration with the Delta Flash Protection Agency(DFPA), has graduated some twelve individuals after a four-week Close Protection Training (CPT) program. During the training, participants received instruction in firefighting, swimming, survival techniques, threat identification, covert and overt surveillance, medical intelligence etc. The partnership with Delta Flash Protection Agency is a key initiative aimed at fostering highly skilled professionals with the necessary knowledge and practical experience to enhance their professional capabilities in an advanced manner.

During the graduation ceremony, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks Jnr., the Acting Vice Chancellor of RMU, elaborated on the institution’s initiative. He explained that, with over 65 years of experience in Maritime education and training as of 2022, RMU embarked on diversifying its offerings.

Among these endeavors are extensive and proactive continuous professional development programs designed to enhance the skills of the working class, elevate their job performance, and bolster their effectiveness at work, ultimately aiming to enhance efficacy.

The MP suggested that such investment would alleviate the burden on the police and military, enabling them to focus on their primary responsibilities.
