Regional Maritime University and Ghana Maritime Authority join forces for ‘GO TO SEA’ campaign in NAVRONGO

The Regional Maritime University (RMU) and the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA) are partnering on the transformative ‘Go to Sea’ campaign, which recently made an impactful stop in Navrongo, Upper East Region of Ghana. This initiative is part of a broader effort to inspire and empower young Ghanaians to consider careers in the maritime industry.

The ‘Go to Sea’ campaign is designed to raise awareness about the numerous opportunities available in maritime careers, including shipping, logistics, engineering, and other critical sectors that support global trade. By engaging students from diverse educational backgrounds—science, business, and general arts—the campaign emphasizes the vital role of the maritime industry in national and international development.

During the Navrongo session, representatives from RMU and GMA spoke to students, educators, and community members, highlighting the importance of maritime education and the incredible career paths it opens. Students were encouraged to explore opportunities both onshore and offshore, contributing to the growth of Ghana’s maritime industry and boosting the nation’s economy.

Highlighting the diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at RMU, she encouraged students to explore options in maritime studies, engineering, logistics, and more, noting the university’s commitment to preparing students for success in both local and global industries.

The partnership between RMU and GMA underscores their shared commitment to empowering Ghanaian youth with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to pursue rewarding careers in the maritime field. By bringing the ‘Go to Sea’ campaign to various regions, the two institutions are playing a critical role in bridging the gap between education and employment, particularly in communities with limited access to maritime career guidance.
