On Friday 7th May 2021, Amaris Terminal Ghana donated some computers and a printer as part of their efforts to support the University in its pursuit of quality maritime training in the country. Amaris Terminal is a Ghanaian owned company licensed by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to operate in the exportation and importation of containers and provide all other terminal related services. The donation forms part of a mutual partnership to be established between the two institutions which would enable RMU graduates to take up job training routines in respect of internship, national service and possibly, employment opportunities.
Whilst thanking Amaris for the kind gesture, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Elvis Nyarko, stated that the computers and printer would support the University in the midst of the current global crisis, COVID-19, which has necessitated the need for the delivery of lessons by virtual means. He called on other companies to emulate this kind gesture and come onboard to support the University.
RMU Officials present during the occasion were: Prof. Elvis Nyarko, Vice Chancellor, Mr. Jethro Brooks, Jr., Pro-Vice Chancellor; Dr. Atehnjia Njumo, Provost, and Mr. Dembo Fofana, Procurement Officer. Officials from Amaris included the Managing Director, Mr. Alex Atakorah and other staff.
