RMU MANAGEMENT PAYS COURTESY CALL ON MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR KROWOR CONSTITUENCY

The Management team of the Regional Maritime University (RMU), on Thursday, 3rd February, 2022, paid a courtesy call on Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Member of Parliament for Krowor constituency. The RMU delegation was led by the Ag. Vice Chancellor Dr. Jethro W. Brooks Jnr. Other members are Dr. Baboucarr Njie, University Registrar, Dr. Dennis Njumo Atehnjia, Provost, Ms. Vania O. E. Thomas, Director of Finance, Mr. Jones Addai-Marfo, Academic Registrar,          Dr. Eyram Kwame, Staff Representative and Mr. Felix Okpoti Koney, Co-ordinator of Weekend Programmes.

The Ag. Vice Chancellor, on behalf of the team, expressed his profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament for the warm reception accorded his team and his good self.  He briefed the Member of Parliament on the various academic/professional and vocational pogrammes run by the University as well as their duration, fees and job prospects.

The Ag. Vice Chancellor also requested the Member of Parliament to use her good offices to foster a working relationship between her constituency and the RMU.  He used the occasion to extend an invitation to the Member of Parliament as Special Guest Speaker at the University`s forthcoming combined 19th and 7th Matriculation Ceremony for the August, 2021 and January 2022 intakes, respectively, scheduled for Friday, 18th March, 2022.

On her part, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey was full of gratitude to RMU Management team for the visit.  She said it had always been her wish for the Nungua community to own and identify with the University.  She, therefore, promised to do all in her power to get the Nungua Community involved in the University`s activities. 

She further indicated that her office was ready to sponsor applicants to pursue various pogrammes at the University and requested Management to give her a special dispensation with regards to tuition fees. She also promised to follow up on Ghana`s outstanding Member State contribution and also accepted to be the Guest Speaker at the forthcoming Matriculation Ceremony of the University.

Concluding the discussions, the Office of the Member of Parliament and the University agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which will clearly define the relationship between the two parties, particularly, in the area of training.
