The Regional Maritime University visits Our Lady of Mercy secondary school to promote educational opportunities

In an effort to broaden educational horizons, a delegation from the Regional Maritime University (RMU) visited Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School (OLAM) on the 14th of December. Led by Dr. Jones Ntiamoah, Head of the Business School at RMU, the delegation aimed to acquaint OLAM students with the courses offered by RMU and encourage them to consider a career path in maritime studies.

Dr. Ntiamoah directly engaged students, particularly those in their final year, offering insights into the diverse courses available at the Business School. His emphasis on seizing opportunities at RMU encouraged students to lay a robust foundation for their future careers. Dr. Ntiamoah also highlighted the historical significance of the Business School and the presence of scholarship programs for financially disadvantaged yet academically gifted students.

Ms. Mabel D. Awuku, a representative from the Marketing Unit of RMU, complemented Dr. Ntiamoah’s presentation by providing an overview of the university’s mainstream courses and an array of short courses. Her session aimed to empower students with an understanding of the diverse educational offerings at RMU.

Mr. Peter Obeng Tweneboah, the Headmaster of Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School, expressed gratitude for choosing OLAM as the inaugural stop. Mr. Tweneboah commended OLAM’s teaching staff for their commitment to academic excellence and advocated for the formalization of a robust relationship between the two institutions. He envisioned a collaboration that would enhance the standing of OLAM and RMU, creating a mutually beneficial environment.

During his address, Mr. Tweneboah declared, “We are honored to host the delegation from the Regional Maritime University. Our school takes pride in associating with a university of high repute. We believe that a formal relationship between our institutions will foster academic and professional growth for both OLAM and RMU.”

The visit concluded with an interactive session, allowing students to pose questions and seek clarification on the courses and opportunities presented by the RMU delegation. As a token of appreciation, souvenirs from the University were presented to active and participative students during the interactive sessions. This event marks a stride towards fostering collaboration between OLAM and RMU, potentially unlocking new avenues for students aspiring to pursue diverse and promising career paths.
