According to International Chamber of Shipping (ICS), the ten (10) major reasons to work at sea are: Attractive Wages; Early Responsibility; Opportunities to Travel; Good Long Term Prospects; Doing Something Useful; Career Flexibility and Job Security; International Recognition; Long Holidays; A Career that is Different; Transferable Skills.

  1. Do you want to work on-board a Vessel/Cruise Ship as Ordinary Seaman (OS), Oiler, Wiper, Purser, Marine Technician, Cook etc.?
  2. Do you want to satisfy the requirements to obtain a Discharge Book (Seaman’s Passport) issued by the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA)?

If your answer to the above questions is YES, then all you need to do is to undertake the under-listed International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) for Seafarers 1978, as amended, courses.

 Entry Requirements: Ability to read and write

Interested persons can pick Registration Forms at the Maritime Safety & Security Centre or the Cash Office; Regional Maritime University.
