SENEGAL MINERGY PORT EXPLORES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH RMU TO STRENGTHEN MARITIME INDUSTRY

In a move to enhance its management systems and establish itself as a key player in the maritime industry, Senegal Minergy Port, a newly established mineral port in Senegal, is forging strategic partnerships to drive its growth. As part of this effort, a two-member delegation from ORITZ-STRATEGY, the consulting firm advising Senegal Minergy Port, visited the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra on Tuesday, March 11. The visit aimed to benchmark RMU’s industry-leading practices and explore long-term collaboration, particularly in the development of a Maritime and Port Training Academy in Senegal.

Leading the delegation from Senegal were Mr. Mamadou Kane and Mr. Alioune M. EB. Diop, who engaged with RMU’s leadership team, led by the Provost, Dr. Dennis Njumo Atehnjia, with the support of Deans of Faculties of RMU.  The discussions focused on RMU’s expertise, training programs, and institutional framework, with an emphasis on how these could support Senegal Minergy Port’s vision.

During the visit, the delegation also toured RMU’s facilities to gain insight into the university’s cutting-edge resources and training infrastructure.

Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Atehnjia expressed RMU’s strong commitment to fostering regional partnerships that advance maritime development across Africa. With over six decades of experience, he emphasized the university’s readiness to support initiatives that strengthen the industry both within the continent and beyond.

Mr. Mamadou Kane conveyed his appreciation for the warm reception, highlighting the visit’s significance in shaping the foundation of the upcoming training academy. He noted that RMU’s expertise and world-class facilities provide an excellent opportunity for collaboration, positioning Senegal Minergy Port for success in the evolving maritime landscape.

This partnership marks an important step toward enhancing maritime education and capacity building in Africa, reinforcing both institutions’ shared vision for a stronger, more competitive maritime sector.
