The Regional Maritime University (RMU) recently received approval from the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA) to organize a comprehensive 5-day Basic Shipping Training program for 20 of their staff. The training took place from Monday, 25th to Friday, 29th September 2023, at the Ghana Shippers’ Authority premises.
The program was conducted by seasoned industry experts, Mr. Alfred Ofori Abrebrese and Mr. Michael Dzikunu with Administrative support provided by Miss. Perpetual Ampah, who ensured the smooth execution of the training.
The program saw active participation from 20 individuals occupying various roles within the Ghana Shippers’ Authority. The training spanned from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm each day, covering crucial aspects of shipping, including Introduction to Shipping Maritime Regulations and Documentation, Shipping Operations, Freight and Logistics, Risk Management and Insurance, and Environmental Considerations and Emerging Technologies.
Certificates of participation were awarded to the attendees on the last day of the program, signifying their successful completion of the training.
As a gesture of appreciation, RMU presented participants with items such as brochures, pens, and glass office plates. The total cost of the program was GH₵25,000.00, that included facilitators’ fees (administrative support, and RMU’s surplus share.
To ensure the effectiveness of the training, participants were provided with evaluation questionnaires. The completed questionnaires were submitted to the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) office for analysis.
The training accommodated staff members from various departments within the Ghana Shippers’ Authority, including heads of departments, finance officers, legal officers, and public relations officers.
