
The Regional Maritime University (RMU)on Saturday. April 7th,2025 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the NPA of Liberia.
The MoU signing marked the culmination of a three-day visit by a delegation from the NPA, led by its Managing Director, Mr. Sekou A.M. Dukuly.

As part of the partnership, the RMU would provide training to the NPA staff in various areas to enhance their human capital in maritime training and education.
Prior to the MoU signing, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the management and staff of RMU, where they were sensitized on the institution’s rich history and activities. The delegation also toured several RMU facilities and observed practical activities by the National Association for Heavy Duty Equipment Operators Ghana (NAHEOG), hosted at the RMU.
The Acting Vice Chancellor of RMU, Dr. Jethro W. Brooks, expressed his excitement over the productive engagement with the NPA delegation, which culminated in the MoU signing.
He emphasized that the move aligned with RMU’s mandate to ensure that member states benefit maximally from the university’s offerings, as directed by its Board of Governors.

Dr Brooks Jr. assured the university community that management would continue to improve campus facilities to ensure a comfortable environment for students. He also encouraged students to take responsibility for the upkeep of university facilities.
As part of RMU’s efforts to maintain its position as a leading maritime training institution globally, Dr. Brooks revealed that the university would soon implement a continuation of cadetship compliance. Starting from the first semester of the 2025-2026 academic year, all third-year (300-level) and fourth-year (400-level) students would be required to wear uniforms in the same manner as first-year and second-year students.
Dr Brooks concluded by expressing his gratitude to the staff and faculty of RMU for their unwavering support of students and their contribution to advancing the university’s vision.
