Orientation for the January 2026 intake at the Regional Maritime University (RMU) was held from Wednesday, January 14, to Friday, January 16, 2026.

The three-day programme was aimed at helping new students adapt to their new environment and familiarise themselves with the University’s rules, regulations and academic culture.

Staff members joined the orientation

At the opening session, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jethro W. Brooks Jr., welcomed the fresh students to what he described as a community of thinkers, leaders and innovators. He emphasised that RMU prides itself on being more than just a place of study, but a center of transformation where curiosity is encouraged, diversity is celebrated and critical thinking is a way of life.

According to him, students would be exposed to new perspectives, challenged to think deeply, and invited to contribute meaningfully both inside and outside the classroom.

He further assured the students that management and staff of the University are committed to supporting them to excel academically and professionally.
