
On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, a delegation from global shipping leader Hafnia Shipping Company paid a working visit to the Regional Maritime University (RMU) in Accra, the visit reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting maritime education and training in the region.

The visit aimed to strengthen the longstanding partnership between Hafnia and RMU, while also providing the delegation with a first-hand understanding of the university’s facilities, programmes and ongoing initiatives.

The two-member delegation comprised Mr Sanjay Mavinkurve, General Manager and Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) and Mr Shivas Kapoor, Head of Crewing.
Welcoming the delegation, Acting Vice Chancellor of RMU, Dr Jethro W. Brooks Jr. expressed deep appreciation for Hafnia’s continued support and collaboration.

He highlighted Hafnia’s planned support to equip the RMU with an engine simulator, bridge simulator and cargo operations systems. These contributions will significantly enhance the university’s training capabilities, especially in the preparation of over 100 female cadets for the industry.

Dr Brooks reaffirmed RMU’s commitment to producing highly skilled seafarers, thus, addressing industry skills gaps and continually upgrading its training infrastructure to meet international standards.
