In his welcome remarks, Dr Brooks Jr. expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Danish government, noting that Denmark has been a strategic partner in strengthening maritime education in Ghana and the sub-region.

He highlighted a major milestone achieved through Danish support, the “Train the Trainer” (ToT) workshop held the previous year, focusing on the implementation of the International Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Fishing Vessel Personnel (STCWF). The initiative, he noted, has successfully trained over 4,000 fishers, with plans to reach up to 20,000 across Ghana in the near future.

Dr Brooks also appealed for further collaboration, including support for acquiring a modern maritime simulator, which he said would significantly enhance the training of seafarers to meet the evolving demands of the global maritime industry.

He also emphasized the need for deeper networking with Danish institutions to promote graduate employment and long-term sustainable partnerships.
