Marking the beginning of the 65 years as an institution and 40 years of regionalization under Maritime Education and Training celebrations, the Regional Maritime University on Monday the 19th of June 2023, embarked on a Health Walk around the Nungua community in a view to creating visibility and awareness. Staff, students and other stakeholders converged at the Parade Ground of the University to participate in this important exercise.
The parade began by 7am under the coordination of some Ghana Navy personnel with musical support by the Cadet Musical Orchestra. Despite the drizzling condition, the parade maintained a constant high spirit throughout the journey and even upon arriving at the final destination, (the Parade Ground where it started), the ambiance did not relent but converted to some mode of physical exercise.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr Jethro Brooks Jr. briefed the gathering on the reason and the spirit behind the event and its importance to the institution. He called on the general public to take advantage of the opportunities available at the University to position themselves for lasting benefits in the Maritime space.

Other activities lined up to commemorate the anniversary include a public lecture scheduled for July, symposium and career fair in September, public lecture in October among many others. The year-long programme which is on the theme: “65 years of Maritime Education and Training Excellence in West and Central Africa” hopes to strengthen the relationship between the University and its stakeholders.
