The visit formed part of efforts to establish a partnership between NSML and RMU, particularly in the area of Certificate of Competency (CoC) programmes for nearly 700 cadets currently undertaking sea-time on NSML vessels.

As part of the proposed collaboration, RMU is expected to undertake a reciprocal visit to Nigeria to assess NSML’s facilities and align training schedules with the required international standards. Discussions also explored the possibility of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formalise the partnership.

The NSML delegation was led by the Manager, Maritime Centre of Excellence & Training (MCOE), Dr Effiong Ekanem Attah, together with Engr. Dr Shoba Hassan, Director of Operations and Training at Strive Prime Consulting Solutions Ltd.
